Moana

Moana is adored for her quirky personality and sassy charm. She’s a little pony with a big heart and unmatched determination on the field. While she might not be the fastest in a game, players can always rely on her steady control and smooth ride. Off the field, Moana has a special way of greeting her favorite players at her stall door, and a treat is never overlooked. Her playful nature and affectionate demeanor make her a beloved member of the team.

Mowra

Generously donated to us by the Boston Polo Club, she continues to shine in our program. Players have quickly grown fond of her, eagerly anticipating the season ahead with her by their sides. Though she may be small, Mowra is a powerhouse—speed is her specialty, and she’s perfected it. As she spends more time with the team and our ponies, her sweet and gentle personality is beginning to shine through, making her a true joy to have around.

Phantom

Phantom is a 16-year-old Thoroughbred mare. She is steady, reliable, and a true sweetheart. With quick turns and speed, she is one of our best ponies to play. Working with Women’s Captain, Ruby, in Equine Sports Rehabilitation, she is making large strides in improving her musculature as well!

Mia

Mia is a 14-year-old Thoroughbred mare. She has an unstoppable bump, making her a fan favorite to play! She has a great field sense and knows when to turn on those jets while keeping her rider safe and sound.

Posey

Posey is a 16-year-old Thoroughbred mare. She is cool as a cucumber, making her a perfect steed for our beginner riders. She’s very versatile and is an overall favorite for both lower and upper-level polo.

Sriracha

Sriracha is a 15-year-old Thoroughbred mare. With some fantastic turns, Sriracha makes it easy to get to the backed ball.

Philomena

Philomena, affectionately known as Philly, is one of our most comfortable rides. With her long, steady stride, she keeps her players in perfect rhythm throughout the game. When it comes to polo, Philly is a force to be reckoned with—her powerful bump makes an impact every time. Though she prefers to take it easy, when it’s time to perform, she’s quick and agile. After a hard practice, Philly enjoys a refreshing rinse and never turns down a well-earned treat to show her appreciation for all her hard work.

Lucia

Lucia is one of our most reliable ponies. Some even say she anticipates the right play before her rider even asks. With her speed, power, and quick instincts, she’s a force to be reckoned with on the field. As she often earns our “Best Playing Pony” award, Luch stays a team favorite to play. Despite her intimidating presence as an opponent, Lucia is an easygoing and quiet companion off the field.

Retired Polo Ponies

Our polo ponies have always given their all, whether in a game or during team practice. We want to take a moment to honor those special horses who may no longer be in action, but will forever remain a cherished part of our team.

Princess

While not being a polo player herself, Princess is always an enjoyable ride and a fantastic umpire horse. She keeps her cool, overlooking the other ponies. She's tolerant of the galloping horses and swinging mallets as they speed past her. She's a crucial aspect of our team and herd.

Pampita

Pampita has a need for speed that makes her hard to catch—blink too fast, and you might miss her! She’s another horse the players can always count on for an exciting, high-level game of polo. With multiple MVP (“Most Valuable Pony”) titles under her belt, she remains one of the top picks for the team. After a long practice, Pampita shows her gratitude in the sweetest way, often wrapping her neck around the players in an affectionate hug. Her energy and heart make her a true standout.

Chukker

Chukker is truly a gentleman and UConn’s kindest polo pony. He thrives on the attention he gets from the players and always shows his affection in return. Lovingly nicknamed “Chuk” by the team, players look forward to every ride with him. Chukker is a versatile horse, capable of excelling at any task asked of him. While he may not be the fastest or the strongest pony, his heart is unmatched, and his loyalty and kindness make him a cherished member of the team.

Stripe

Stripe has now been adopted and is spending her days teaching little children the riding basics -- like how to trot and canter!
